What Is An Intraductal Papilloma ?

It is a type of tumour (pedunculated growth) in the milk producing ducts of breast .. it has a low risk of future malignancy and removal by a breast specialist is suggested.. it has 2 modalities of removal … That is, microdochectomy if the patient is young and desirous of future baby rearing and breast feeding .. and Major Duct Excision Hadfield’s operation (removal of all milk ducts ) if the patient is in later age group…

This patient had a BIRADS 4 lesion ..and was going from pillar to post to find a solution.. She came to us ..and we got a USG guided core needle biopsy which revealed it to be intraductal papilloma…

Being a young 37 year we decided to go ahead with single duct excision ie microdochectomy.. the final histopathology confirmed intraductal papillomatosis… Which the patient was counselled for regular follow ups ..

Patient went back home in a day
